The Forum Music Centre to host online workshop with renowned child psychologist Dr Jen Wills Lamacq
The Forum Music Centre in Darlington is to host an exclusive online session with renowned child and educational psychologist Dr Jen Wills Lamacq on Wednesday 15th December 2021.
Dr Jen Wills Lamacq is a child and educational psychologist with a special interest in parenting through the early years of life. She is married to acclaimed BBC 6 Music radio DJ Steve Lamacq.
The workshop will be held on Zoom at 10:30am and it is designed especially for parents of children aged from 0-5 years old. It covers some of the science about the value of music and the developing brain, practical ideas about how to incorporate music into play and bonding activities, as well as offering space for parents to think and reflect about the role of music in their lives.
The workshop will be followed by a general Q&A, which will give parents the opportunity to ask questions about any aspect of early child development, such as sleep, emotions or behaviour.
At the end of the session, participants will be asked to complete a quick survey. Once this is completed, participants will receive some session materials via email to keep, and a link to a Spotify playlist curated by Jen and Steve Lamacq.
Allison McKay, Chief Executive at The Forum Music Centre, said: “We were absolutely thrilled when the Independent Music Venue Trust asked us to host a workshop with Dr Jen Wills Lamacq.
“We are always looking for ways in which we can help people engage with music, and to be able to bring Jen to Darlington and to The Forum Music Centre is such an honour.”
This exclusive event is limited to ten parents in the region. Tickets are priced at £3 (plus booking fees) and are available to purchase through See Tickets.
